About Future Forest
A living art experiment
Future Forest is more than a festival. Deep in the New Brunswick forest, electronic music, immersive art, installations, hands-on learning and craft merge with the wild. It's a living world that artists and attendees build together.
Our mission & values

Our story
Born in the forest
Future Forest grew out of a 2012 fundraiser for renowned DJ Jay Hamilton in his battle with cancer. The first festival followed in 2013, founded by a community of artists and music lovers chasing something different. It has since grown into one of Canada's most unique electronic music and arts festivals.
In 2017 we found our home: a 200-acre woodlot on the side of Little River, near Fredericton, bought from a logging company and now cared for as a permanent home. In 2019 we rebranded as an Art Experience, expanding beyond music into immersive installations, live performance and interactive creativity. We paused through 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic, then returned.
Now in its 12th year, Future Forest stays true to its roots: a festival built by artists, for artists, where attendees aren't spectators but co-creators of the magic. Today it's run by Future Forest Music & Arts Festival Inc., a small team and a community of artists and volunteers.

Sustainability & the land
Light on the land
Future Forest is held on the unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik people, on the banks of the river they call Nem-dit'qu. We're committed to honouring Indigenous cultures and protecting the land that makes this possible. Festivals leave a footprint, and we work to lighten ours every year.
Leave No Trace

Local & low-impact
