About Future Forest

A living art experiment

Future Forest is more than a festival. Deep in the New Brunswick forest, electronic music, immersive art, installations, hands-on learning and craft merge with the wild. It's a living world that artists and attendees build together.

Our mission & values

Built with intention

Every detail is intentional: a safe, inclusive and sustainable space rooted in community and creativity. Our mission is to create an immersive art experience inspired by nature, grown with diversity, and co-created by our community. Future Forest is independent and community-funded, with no corporate sponsors and no barriers between artists and attendees.

Safety

A welcoming, harm-reducing space where everyone looks out for each other.

How we keep it safe

Inclusivity

A 2SLGBTQIA+ and all-gender welcoming space, with all-gender washrooms. We want everyone to feel they belong.

Diversity & equity

Sustainability

Leave No Trace, composting and recycling, and a lighter footprint every year.

Our commitment

Creativity

Showcasing unique, innovative art in every form.

Community

Collaboration among artists, volunteers and attendees.

Our story

Born in the forest

Future Forest grew out of a 2012 fundraiser for renowned DJ Jay Hamilton in his battle with cancer. The first festival followed in 2013, founded by a community of artists and music lovers chasing something different. It has since grown into one of Canada's most unique electronic music and arts festivals.

In 2017 we found our home: a 200-acre woodlot on the side of Little River, near Fredericton, bought from a logging company and now cared for as a permanent home. In 2019 we rebranded as an Art Experience, expanding beyond music into immersive installations, live performance and interactive creativity. We paused through 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic, then returned.

Now in its 12th year, Future Forest stays true to its roots: a festival built by artists, for artists, where attendees aren't spectators but co-creators of the magic. Today it's run by Future Forest Music & Arts Festival Inc., a small team and a community of artists and volunteers.

Join the Forest. Be the Experience.

In the Forest

Music, art and everything between

Epic soundscapes

Deep bass, house, techno, live sets and more across three artist-built stages: Prism, Nest and Mushroom.

Live art & installations

A forest-turned-gallery of live painting, projection mapping and installations tucked throughout the trees.

Fire, aerial & performance

Fire dancers, aerialists and performers bringing the night to life under the stars.

Workshops & yoga

Hands-on workshops, breathwork, meditation and yoga at the stages and the Wellness Sphere.

Immersive stage design

Projection art and interactive visuals that turn each stage into a living, ever-changing world.

Artisan & food

A curated community of makers: local food and one-of-a-kind handmade goods.

Sustainability & the land

Light on the land

Future Forest is held on the unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik people, on the banks of the river they call Nem-dit'qu. We're committed to honouring Indigenous cultures and protecting the land that makes this possible. Festivals leave a footprint, and we work to lighten ours every year.

Leave No Trace

Pack in, pack out. We keep the forest exactly as we found it.

Waste reduction

Composting stations and recycling programs throughout the site.

Local & low-impact

Local sourcing, mindful infrastructure and a smaller footprint every year.

Get involved

Built by the community

Future Forest thrives on participation. Everyone is part of the magic, whether you're an artist, a volunteer, or a first-time camper.

A phenomenal, life-changing experience. Everyone took care of one another.
