Emily Danger Powers is a visual artist based in E’se’katik, Mi’kma’ki (Lunenburg, Nova Scotia). She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts From NSCAD University in 2012, and has continued to develop her art practice ever since. Well-versed in a variety of mediums her current focus is acrylic painting, with a love for portraiture (both human and animal). Playing with the juxtaposition between highly-rendered figures, and two-dimensional collage, repeating patterns, and sketch work, her portraits explore the gap between reality and how we perceive it – much like how our dreams and memories change each time we revisit them. She has a passion for creating, and especially enjoys any opportunity to live-paint at various events and festivals around the Maritimes. Emily has been involved with the festival community for over a decade, and looks forward to creating alongside the many talented artists, creators, and music makers every summer.
